What the official guidance says
The TDRA internet guidelines describe voice and video calling as a regulated service and publish a current permitted-app list. At the evidence check it included services such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet for meetings, BOTIM and GoChat. Recheck the list and each app’s own account or subscription terms before relying on one.
This guide does not recommend bypassing local restrictions and does not treat absence from a list as proof of every possible technical behaviour.
Prepare two ways to contact home
- Install and sign into a currently permitted method before departure.
- Confirm that the person in Ireland can use the same method.
- Save an airline, accommodation or trusted contact number separately.
- Check the Irish line’s call, SMS and voicemail roaming charges.
- Keep critical details offline in case neither mobile data nor Wi-Fi is available.
