Preparing a visitor’s phone
Help family visiting Ireland get connected on their own phones
Compare Ireland eSIM plansOrdering from your kitchen in Ireland is easy; choosing for a phone in another country takes a little coordination. The device that will use the eSIM is the one that matters.
A host often knows the itinerary better than the visitor, but usually does not know the visitor’s exact phone model, carrier lock or home roaming allowance. Ask those questions before purchasing. Most importantly, do not install the visitor’s eSIM on your own phone to test it: a first connection in Ireland can start validity before they arrive.

The buyer and the traveller have different jobs
The host can compare dates, routes and prices. The visitor must confirm the exact phone model, regional variant, carrier-lock status and home roaming allowance. Choose for the visitor’s phone—not the phone used to place the order.
A public plan link is safe to share. A QR code, activation code or order-access link is private fulfilment information and should not be posted in a group chat or public document.
Pre-arrival visitor checklist
- Record the exact phone model and where it was purchased.
- Confirm eSIM support and that the device is network-unlocked.
- Ask whether the home plan already includes Ireland.
- List every country, including Northern Ireland or Great Britain.
- Count phones that must work independently when people separate.
- Match both plan validity and allowance to the trip.
- Install only on the intended visitor’s device.
A message you can send before choosing
This asks for the facts needed to choose a plan without requesting an IMEI, passport, provider password or other private credentials.
Do not test the profile on the host’s phone
Current suitcase.ie Ireland plan records say validity starts on first connection to a supported destination network and installation is allowed before travel. A host already in Ireland could therefore start the validity period by connecting on the wrong phone.
Compare current Ireland data plans, then complete the supported checkout and keep the delivered activation details private. suitcase.ie does not present a separate gift-transfer feature on this page.
