Dubai transit planning

What to check before a connection or stopover in Dubai

First identify whether this is an airside connection, a self-transfer, a booked stopover or an approved Dubai Connect booking. Those journeys have different baggage, immigration, terminal and connectivity needs; layover length alone cannot tell you that you may leave the airport.

Do not use the connection length as the verdict

Current Emirates terms describe a 6–26-hour window, but duration alone does not qualify a booking. The terms also cover shortest available connection, fare, ticketing, operating carrier, age, immigration eligibility and hotel availability. Ask Emirates to confirm the specific booking; this tool does not promise a hotel, visa, meal or transfer.

Connectivity may be different at each stage

Airside Wi-Fi may be enough for a short connection. A tourist offer may require entering the UAE and passing identity checks. An eSIM bought for the final country does not automatically cover the UAE, and a UAE-only eSIM does not automatically cover the onward country. Resolve the real onward destination through the destination directory.
